Garage Conversions FAQ

Q) Do I need planning permission?
A)
Typically no, as long as the garage conversion doesn’t extend the present building you can just go ahead and do it. When we carry out a full survey and understand what you want to achieve, we can advise you accordingly and make provisions for any planning requirements if necessary.

Q) How long will it take?
A)
Less than four weeks, about half the time it takes to convert a loft, and half the disruption as a result!

Q) How much will the garage conversion cost?
A)
We provide full surveys to discuss with you exactly what conversion can be carried out on your garage, sending on an all-inclusive quotation in the post to you within just seven days.

Q) Will your work include heating, lighting and water?
A) Yes, our team includes fully qualified and certified engineers to connect mains lighting and power, central heating and plumbing if required.

Q) Will you meet legal requirements like building regulations?
A)
All our work is in accordance with building and fire regulations, and our team are all relevantly qualified so electrics are always handled by an NICEIC registered electrician. Building control certificates are provided by an independent structural engineering expert who ensures all our work meets the highest standards and fully complies with legal requirements.

Q) Will you colour and style match the existing windows or doors?
A)
Whenever possible we will; we have a good network of suppliers with a wide range of products and have an excellent success rate at finding identical matches.

Q) Will the garage conversion be insulated?
A)
Absolutely, the room will be lined with internal thermal insulation and finished in typical plasterboard or chipboard for the floor.

Q) How adaptable is the conversion? Can I have several rooms?
A)
Most things are possible thanks to our extensive general building experience, our team have been building for almost 35 years with the last ten spent specialising in garage and loft conversions; just let us know what you want and we can work out if it’s possible, some popular options include guest bedrooms or suites including a bathroom, home offices, recreation and games rooms, additional reception rooms or even part conversions leaving some room for storage.
